Now that the babies are in their fouth week of development they are filled with energy and curiosity. Their balance has improved and they climb the wire sides of the cage.. and the wire tops too. Wrestling and eating are the two preferred activities.    As you can see on the Day 22 & 23 photos the dumbos have fully developed ears. Their little faces are becoming more elongated as they grow.   Now, instead of sleeping together, they are sleeping in 2 or three groups on different levels of the cage. Mom is nursing them less often. The babies are now using the water bottle, eating lab block and seed mix, and joining mom in eating snacks.   Usually by now the mom is trying hard to get out of the cage to get a break from the kids. Oddly enough Anastasia isn't doing this. She seems perfectly content. But every mom and every litter is different.   It is essential that the babies be handled everyday to socialize them and get them ready fo their new homes. At this age they are all over the place, very friendly and wanting to play with people. Their basic personalities are pretty well established and each day they show more indiviuality.   It is amazing to look at the babies in the first week of developement and then compare them at 4 weeks of age.
